Helen K. Coolidge, 92, of Round Pond, died June 30 at home, indomitable until very near the end.
She was born and raised in North Carolina, attended Duke University, then spent much of her life in Chicago, before moving to Maine. During WWII, she worked for the Manhattan Project, where the atomic bomb was created. In recent years, she spent time as an avid and knowledgeable gardener.
She was the widow of Dr. Thomas B. Coolidge.
She is survived by sons, Robert B. Coolidge and wife Amy of Whiteville, Tenn., and A. Knight Coolidge of Bremen; and grandson, Alton K. Coolidge.
