Herman Aaron Rood, Sr., of Windsor, and formerly of Jefferson, passed away on Nov. 13 at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta with many family members by his side.
He was employed with Bath Iron Works for 40 years, retiring in 1990.
Herman was a Boy Scout leader for many years. He loved working with the children and never expected anything in return. He was a member and gatekeeper of Willow Grange and a member of Lincoln Pomona. He loved life and his family. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and selling Christmas trees with his family.
He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Ernest and Arthur Rood; sisters, Bernice Bagley and Hilda Pease; and first wife of 55 years, Hazel (Creamer) Rood.
Herman will be sadly missed by his wife, Mildred (Perry) Rood; sons, Gary Rood, Aaron Rood and wife Robin, and Michael Rood and wife Kathleen; daughter, Sandy Hannan and husband Donnie; stepsons, Bobby and Brant Perry; stepdaughters, Sandee J. Gordon and friend Leroy Shea, and Dottie Parker and husband Orrin; grandchildren, Patrick and Lance Rood, Carrie Davila and husband Angel, Heather and Nicky Hannon, Dawn Hannon and companion Russell Gardner, Jessica Rood, and Antoinette Gagnon; brother, Harold Rood and wife Jennie; sisters, Pearl Fuller, Hattie Robinson and husband Robbie, and Ellen Bowen and husband Ben; many step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and beloved friends.
Visitation 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Fri., Nov. 16 at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home-Gray Chapel, 207 Windsor Neck Rd., Windsor.
Funeral 1 p.m., Sat., Nov. 17 at Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Church, Farmingdale. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in Jefferson.
