
Howard “Yogi” S. Leino, 65, of Owls Head, died July 23 at the Sussman House in Rockport. He was born Jan. 16, 1951 in Quincy, Mass. to Edward J. Leino and Mildred Tierila Leino. Howard attended Warren grade schools, Rockland Junior High School, and graduated from Rockland High School in the Class of 1970.
Howard served in the Navy during the Vietnam War from 1970 to 1975. He worked as boilermaker and foreman for several companies including South Bay Boiler, National City Company, San Diego Gas & Electric from 1975 to 2015. He also worked as a power plant operator and Trainee.
Howard’s artistic creativity was vast and included metal sculpture, jewelry making, painting, arms manufacturing, distilled spirits and cannon making.
He was predeceased by sister-in-law, Brenda Leino.
He is survived by sister, Alexandra Perry-Weiss and husband Erick of Bristol; brother, George Leino of Friendship; nephews, James Perry and wife Karen of Bath, and Jody Perry and wife Linda of Waldoboro; niece, Jennifer Andrews and husband Tim of Nobleboro; and seven great-nephews.
A graveside service to celebrate Howard’s life will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sat., Aug. 6 at the Fairview Cemetery in Warren.
