Irene W. Bogolubsky, 85, of Boothbay Harbor, died unexpectedly on March 9 at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
She was born on March 23, 1927 in Yugoslavia, the daughter of Vladimir and Tatiana Bogolubsky.
Irene lived in Germany, England and France before moving to the U.S. in 1955. She went on to live in New York City and worked at the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronomics as Technical Director of Technical Information Service. Irene was awarded the Public Service Award by the U.S. Air Force.
She retired in 1991 and moved to her cottage in Trevett. She held several volunteer jobs at Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library, Bigelow Labs and the YMCA.
Irene was predeceased by her parents.
She is survived by her good friend, Kathleen Mayotte of Trevett.
Funeral service 10 a.m., Tues., March 12 at St. Alexander Nevsky Church, Church St., Richmond. Burial will take place in New York.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Alexander Nevsky Russian Orthodox Church, 15 Church St., Richmond, ME 04357.
