Ivan A. Meserve Jr., 86, of Ayer, Mass., died at his residence on Aug. 3 after an illness.
Mr. Meserve was born in Jefferson on June 14, 1924, a son of the late Ivan A. and Florence F. (Douglass) Meserve and has resided in Ayer for the past 37 years. He was also a former resident of Somerville.
Mr. Meserve had been previously employed for 30 years at the Rubb-Air Door Company of Ayer, Mass. From 1992 to 1999 he was employed as a custodian at the Ayer High School. Mr. Meserve had been employed for 11 years, retiring in February of 2010, at the Jack O Lantern Package Store in Ayer. In his earlier years he had worked for the First National Market.
Mr. Meserve was a former member of the Moose Club in Medford, Mass. Many years ago he was an avid bowler. He also enjoyed gardening.
He attended Somerville High School and Lincoln Academy in Newcastle.
He was predeceased by his brother Kritz Meserve of Maine.
Mr. Meserve is survived by his wife of 65 years Eileen T. (Connarton) Meserve of Ayer, Mass.; daughters, Patricia A. and husband James Cremens of Ayer, Mass., Linda M. and husband Richard Bibeault of Mason, N.H.; seven grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
