Janice L. Cusumano, 73, of Boothbay Harbor, died Oct. 7 at Maine Medical Center in Portland after a brief illness.
Mrs. Cusumano was born Feb. 5, 1936 in Boothbay Harbor, the daughter of Wallace and Ethel Benner Barter, and is a graduate of Boothbay Region High School.
She married Joseph Cusumano in Boothbay Harbor, and they returned to his hometown of Gloucester, Mass., where they raised their family, and then returned to the area in 1980.
She was a member of the Boothbay Baptist Church, active participant in the Boothbay Region YMCA fitness program, loved to spend time with her family, doing jigsaw puzzles, listen to gospel music, write poems, attend yard sales and her dog Mona.
She is predeceased by her husband, Joseph Cusumano in 2007.
Survivors include her sons, Joseph Steven Cusumano of Epsom, N.H., William Edward Cusumano of Thomaston, Daniel Wayne Cusumano of Boothbay Harbor, Jeffrey Scott Cusumano of Edgecomb, and Paul Anthony Cusumano of California; brothers, William Barter of Anaheim, Cal., and Wallace Barter, Jr. of Boothbay Harbor; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours 6-8 p.m., Fri., Oct. 9 at the Boothbay Baptist Church, 999 Wiscasset Rd., Boothbay, where a celebration of her life will be 2 p.m., Sat., Oct. 10. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Boothbay.
