Janice Newell Long, 81, passed at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough on June 5 after a severe stroke. She was born in Boothbay Harbor, the daughter of Maurice and Lillian (Lewis) Newell, on Oct. 23, 1934.
Janice attended schools in North Newcastle and Boothbay Harbor. She was a graduate of Boothbay Harbor High School. Janice was also a member of the United Methodist Church.
Janice worked in the Boston area, Florida and California, eventually retiring back to Boothbay Harbor. She was very interested in the ecology of the planet. She loved the view of the Harbor in her back yard.
Janice was predeceased by her parents; and son, Steven L. Long.
She is survived by six cousins.
There will be a memorial service for Janice at the First United Methodist Church, 81 Townsend Ave., Boothbay Harbor at 2 p.m., Wed., June 11 with Pastor Ami Sawtelle officiating. All are welcome.
