Jennifer Springer Dills, 46, daughter of long time Damariscotta residents Barbara and Frank Springer, died on July 6 at her home in Fairfax, Va. She suffered from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, more familiarly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
Jennifer was born and raised on Long Island, N.Y. She was a 1982 graduate of Harborfields High School in Greenlawn, N.Y. and Duke University in Durham, N.C. in 1986. She worked in the publishing field in NYC for several years, but eventually returned to Durham where she worked for the University, managing the student newspaper.
Jennifer and her family loved Maine and looked forward to returning every summer to see family and friends they had made here. Favorite activities included kayaking on the river, swimming at Pemaquid Beach, and eating lots of lobster at the co-op, followed by ice cream at Round Top.
Jennifer was predeceased by her father, Frank Springer; and grandparents.
She is survived by her husband Chris and their children Thomas, Audrey and Juliet, all of Fairfax, Va.; mother, Barbara of Fairfax, Va.; sister, Barbara Edwards and husband Richard of Arden, N.C. and their children Nathaniel and Sarah; and brothers, Bill of Fairfax, Va., Jonathan, wife Heidi of Brooklyn, N.Y. and son Ivan, and Christopher, wife Selvi of White Plains, N.Y. and daughter Jhansi.
