Joan Estella Arsenault, 69, of Bath, passed away June 16 at her home.
Born June 22, 1938 in Boothbay, Joan was a daughter of the late Ernest (Sr.) and Sophie Abbott Morton. She was a 1957 graduate of Boothbay Harbor High School and in 1958, married Burt Albert Arsenault. They made their home in Bath.
As a teenager, she taught Sunday school at the Spruce Point Chapel.
Joan was an avid Red Sox fan. She also loved reading Danielle Steele novels and belonged to several book clubs.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Lorraine A. Rines and Erlene Willey.
Survivors include her loving husband of 48 years, Burt Albert Arsenault of Bath; sons, Dean A. Arsenault of Brunswick, Martin B. Arsenault of Bath, and Barry A. Arsenault of Bath; daughter, Virginia M. Gillis of Albion, N.Y.; sisters, Dorothy Kirouac of Rocky Hill, Conn., Ernestine Townsend of West Buxton, and Mary Collamore Smale of Friendship; brothers, Robert and Ernest Morton, Jr. of East Boothbay; six grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visiting hours 6-8 p.m., Wed., June 20 at Simmons, Harrington & Hall, 975 Wiscasset Rd., Boothbay.
At the request of the family there will be no other services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Maine Diabetes Association, 80 Elm St., Portland, ME 04101.
