Joan M. Hancock, 84, of Nobleboro, passed away on the afternoon of March 26. She was born on Feb. 26, 1932 in Wilkes-Barre, Penn. Joan moved to Maine with the Dow family in 1948, and met Buddy Hancock when she started school at Lincoln Academy. They were married on July 29, 1950, a month after Joan graduated high school, and remained together for nearly 65 years until Bud passed away on July 17, 2015.
Joan was primarily a homemaker, but did work for Bob Reny, County Fair Restaurant, Waltz Pharmacy, and Yellowfront Grocery at different times over the years.
Joan will be remembered for her beautiful singing voice; God Bless America was never the same!
Joan is survived by her son, Thomas Hancock; daughter and son-in-law, Britt and Josh Hatch; grandchildren, Sam and Lindsey Hancock, Beth Hancock, Ross Pushard and partner Brianna Johnson, Anna Hatch and Joel Hatch; cousin, Tim Key; and great-grandsons, Davin and Ethan.
A service for Joan will be held at 11 a.m., Sat., April 2 at the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home in Damariscotta. A reception will follow at Britt and Josh’s house, 151 Morgan Hill Rd. in Nobleboro.
