Mrs. Joanne A. (Allen) Foster, 80, of Waltham, Mass., died July 30 at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston.
Joanne was born in Waltham on Sept. 2, 1929, a daughter to the late George E. and Anne Mae (Manning) Allen and had been a lifelong resident. She was a graduate of Waltham High School and until her retirement had worked in administration at Waltham Hospital.
She was an active member of Saint Jude Parish in Waltham where she and her late husband, Arthur C. Foster who died in April, 1996, were longtime members of the Couples Club. Joanne had also been a member of the parish Ladies Sodality. She remained active by bowling with the Wal-Lex Bowling League in Waltham and frequently playing tennis with friends. Joanne found her greatest joy, however, raising her children and cherishing time spent with her grandchildren.
Joanne spent every summer in New Harbor.
Joanne was predeceased by her sister, Barbara Marchand.
She leaves her children, David A. Foster and wife Lauren of Prosper, Tex., Barbara A. Foster of Waltham, Mass., Katherine E. Warren, M.D. and husband Tom of Darnestown, Mass., Kimberly J. Kotsiras and husband George of Marlborough, Mass. and Tracey P. Foster of Waltham, Mass.; grandchildren, Greg, Melissa and Rachel Foster, Kelsey and Jamie Warren and Christina, Zachary and Sydney Kotsiras; sister, Patricia Boynton of Chamberlain; brothers, George “Ed” Allen of Henniker, N.H., and William Allen of Woburn, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends honored and remembered Joanne’s life Aug. 2 and Aug. 3 by gathering in the Joyce Funeral Home, Waltham. A funeral mass was Aug. 3 at Saint Jude Church, Waltham. Burial followed in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham, Mass.
