Josephine J. Kennedy passed away Jan. 5 at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
She was born July 3, 1933, in Waldoboro, a daughter of Ralph and Cora Burgess Johnson. She was educated in Waldoboro schools.
She married Raymond Kennedy on Jan. 26, 1951, and they made their home in Waldoboro.
Josephine worked at H.P. Hood & Sons candling eggs. She left H.P. Hood in 1964 and went to work for GTE Sylvania. At Sylvania she worked on various jobs and shifts and after 27 years of service, she retired in 1991. During retirement, she loved shopping and lawn sales.
She was a member of the Waldoboro Senior Citizens, Orffs Corner Community Church, and Orffs Corner Women’s Club, and was vice president of the Orffs Corner Community Club. Josephine enjoyed spending her summers at the cottage on Damariscotta Lake, doing crosswords, and loved to listen to country music. She will be missed by her friends and family.
She was predeceased by her brother, Walter Johnson.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond Kennedy of Waldoboro; daughters, Brenda Dever and husband Roger of Waldoboro, and Sandra Ball and husband Robert of Bristol; sisters, Ruth Higgins of Manchester, N.H., Eva McLain and husband Ralph of Waldoboro, and Dorothy Goff and husband Richard of Manchester, N.H.; brother, Jesse Johnson and wife Winnie of Waldoboro; grandchildren, Jamie Dever and wife Bobbi Jo of Waldoboro, Erica Stevens and husband Casey of Newcastle, and Katie Jones of Bristol; great-grandchildren, Trever Stevens of Newcastle, Elle Stevens of Newcastle, and Logan Dever of Waldoboro; sister-in-law, Barbara Johnson of Waldoboro; and many nieces, nephews and several cousins.
Time of visitation for friends and family 6-8 p.m., Tues., Jan. 9 at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro.
Funeral 1 p.m., Wed., Jan. 10 at Hall Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Orffs Corner Cemetery in Waldoboro.
