Joyce L. Chipman, 64, of South Bristol, died unexpectedly on Nov. 6 at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta.
She was born on May 19, 1943 in Damariscotta, the daughter of Hazel and Kenneth Chipman. She grew up in South Bristol and graduated from South Bristol High School in 1961.
She served in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Pensacola, Fla., then transferred to Brunswick. After the Navy she had various jobs and finally decided on a secretarial/bookkeeping career, which she had for many years.
Joyce enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, clamming, blueberry picking, reading and traveling. She loved the outdoors, especially feeding the wildlife.
She was predeceased by her parents; brother-in-law, Arnold Gamage; nephew, Jerry Gamage; and sister-in-law, Marie Chipman.
She is survived by Van Seiders, her companion of 17 years; daughter, Tonya Frame and husband Michael; Van s son, Pete and wife Jessica; grandchildren, Danielle, Michael, Dylan, David, Katelyn, Brooke, and Ashton; sisters, Gloria Gamage and Trish Poland and husband Arthur; brother, Ken Chipman; niece, Angela Moore and husband Lee; as well as several other nieces and nephews.
Celebration of her life Nov. 9 at the Union Congregational Church in South Bristol. She was laid to rest at the Old Oak Cemetery in Walpole.
