Joyce Palmer Krah, 96, of Sheepscott, passed away at home on Nov. 17.
She was the daughter of Dorothy and Myron Palmer. She was born Sept. 23, 1920 and grew up in Whitefield and went to school at the Whitefield Plain School, not far from her home. She belonged to the 4-H Club in Alna until her parents moved to Amesbury, Mass. where she attended Amesbury High School. Her family finally moved back to Maine. On Oct. 1, 1938 she married Morgan Ellsworth Krah of Sheepscott where they raised three children.
She loved gardens, both flower and vegetable. Her greatest passion was having an artist paint brush in her hand. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and sewing. She made many beautiful articles for the Ladies Aid in Sheepscott where she was a member of the church. She belonged to Garrison Hill Grange for 74 years, the Home Makers Extension for 25 years, and taught Sunday school in Sheepscott when the twins were growing up. She worked at Clark’s Spa, Newcastle Inn, Medomak Canning Co. and worked 16 years at Augusta State Hospital (AMHI) when she retired.
She was predeceased by her older sister, Marion Wildes; sister, Mary Bradstreet; and brothers, Lloyd and Rundlett Palmer.
She is survived by daughter, Donna Krah; son, Dean Krah, both of Sheepscott; son, Kensell Krah of Florida; sister, Daisy Radoulovitch of Sheepscott; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
A private burial will be held at the Sheepscott Cemetery.
