Judith Ann “Judy” (Waltz) Campbell, of Newcastle, passed away June 20.
Judy was a beautiful young girl who was given the gift of a smile. She was born in Newcastle on Oct. 29, 1939 to Irene May (Robinson) and Sewall Waltz. She was raised in Damariscotta Mills in a loving family of 11. For Judy, family was everything.
She graduated from Lincoln Academy, and soon after married Sammy Campbell, moving to North Newcastle to raise her three daughters. The last half of her life was spent with Arthur Dalton, and they both became the keystone to a very large extended family. Family was their life.
Judy worked early on as a diner waitress, at Sylvania, and retired after many years from Yellowfront in Damariscotta at the meat and deli counter.
Judith Ann “Judy” (Waltz) Campbell, 76, was predeceased by her parents; the love of her life, Arthur; ex-husband, Sammy; and her siblings, Hoopy, Carroll, Henry and Gloria.
She is survived by her daughters, Lauri, Lisa and Lorna; grandchildren, Sarah, Kyle, Lucas, Tyler, Callie and Gabe; great-grandchildren, Brit, Ethan, Nathan, Simon, Lilah and Riley; her extended family, Julie, Christy, Peter, Jackie, Tiger and their spouses, children, and grandchildren. As well as other family members, Ryan, Sheldon, Kenny, Kevan and Joe. Her siblings, Priscilla, Margaret, Gertrude, Frankie, Raymond and Bobby. Many, many nieces and nephews; and her angels here on earth, Margaret, Valerie, Julie, Wanda and Noreen.
Judy fought a valiant 12 year battle with cancer. She will be genuinely missed by a community, and a generation. She was an extremely loving mother, Nana and friend to all. She had a very big heart.
A memorial service for Judy will be held at 11 a.m., Fri., June 24 at the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main St., Damariscotta. She will be laid to rest with Arthur, in the Sheepscot Cemetery, following the service.
