Judy Mae McLain Schwarz, of Damariscotta, passed away on the morning of July 24 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on April 19, 1963 in Damariscotta, the daughter of Douglas McLain, Sr. and Ann Mirando McLain, she attended Bremen schools as well as Lincoln Academy.
After a successful career in the hospitality industry, Judy married Thomas Schwarz in 1993, and resided in Damariscotta where she became a very active member of the community and raised her children with enthusiastic involvement in all of their activities, both scholastic and extracurricular.
Well-known for her exuberant personality and endless energy when it came to her family and friends, Judy always had a bright smile and an infectious laugh. What Judy enjoyed the most was her family time and vacations in the Caribbean, which will be her final resting place.
Judy was predeceased by her parents, Ann and Douglas McLain, Sr.
She is survived by husband, Thomas Schwarz; children, Gregory Dorr of Portland, Matthew Schwarz of South Portland, Kelsey and Danielle Schwarz of Damariscotta, and So-Young Park of South Korea; brothers, David Leonard of Atlanta, Ga., and Douglas McLain, Jr. of Walpole; sisters, Carol Burr of Sarasota, Fla., Rhonda Flower of Walpole, Darlene McLain of Damariscotta, and Jeanette Wordock of Round Pond; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Judy will be sadly missed by her family, her many friends, and all who interacted with her on a daily basis. Throughout her illness, she remained optimistic, determined to survive, and lived every moment to its fullest without one complaint
A time to visit with her family and celebrate her life will take place from 1-3 p.m., Sat., Aug. 1 at the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home in Damariscotta. The family would like to have a casual, colorful, and comfortable celebration.
