Leahtine E. McInnis, 68, of Somerville, passed away early on the morning of Jan. 14 at her home.
The daughter of Dana H. and Edna Mae (Kilbreth) Hamlin, she was born Sept. 9, 1939, in Oxford. She attended Gorham schools and for many years lived in Whitefield and Sanford with her family.
As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she and her husband became members of the Damariscotta Branch in 2004, following their move to Somerville.
Mrs. McInnis was well known for her seamstress ability, having recently completed a project prior to her passing. She had a great love of books, both as an avid reader and as a writer of children’s books. She was a member for many years of the “Hamlin Hoofnotes,” a family, comedy-singing group. She loved to collect dolls and was known as a yearlong lover of Christmas.
She leaves her husband, Henry B. McInnis of Somerville; children, H. Bruce McInnis, Jr. of Jefferson, James D. McInnis, Sr. of Parsonsfield, Michele M. Russell of Radcliff, Ky., Teresa J. Potter of Palermo, David B. McInnis of Springvale, Jeremy D. McInnis of Somerville, Todd H. Hatch of Windsor, Christopher D. McInnis of Somerville, Samuel A. McInnis of Somersworth, N.H., Tracy L. Dyer of Whitefield, Sarah J. Roy of Farmington, N.H., Kenneth L. Hatch III of Whitefield, and Zackery T. McInnis and Adriana M. McInnis, both of Somerville; siblings, Marilyn L. Wallace of Brockton, Mass., Janet G. Provencher of Wells, Dana T. Hamlin of Livermore Falls, Lee H. Hamlin of Porter, Dorothy L. Long of Buxton, and June E. Hamlin of Shapleigh; and 60 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to be with the family 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Sat., Jan 19 at the Damariscotta Branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, U.S. Rt. 1, Damariscotta. A service will follow at the church at 1:30 pm.
