Lloyd E. Butterfuss, 62, of Westport Island, passed away of complications from cancer on Feb. 20. Lloyd was born Sept. 1, 1954 in Milwaukee, Wis.
He had proudly served as a parachute rigger in the U.S. Navy until he was medically retired in Brunswick, then continued on into a career with Bath Iron Works. There, after 25 years, he retired as a designer for BIW on Jan. 31, 2006.
Lloyd was a true friend, brother, loved by many and enjoyed life to the fullest. For those who knew him well, you may not have always liked what he had to say, but you always knew where he stood.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clem and Kathleen Butterfuss, as well as older brother Leslie Butterfuss.
He is survived by sister, Lisa; and brother, Lance Butterfuss.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that donations in the name of Lloyd E. Butterfuss be made to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Direct Cremation of Maine, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
