Lorelei Ann Wilson, 66, of Bremen, passed away unexpectedly in her home on July 11.
Lorelei was born on March 22, 1950 in Tilton, N.H. to Stephan and Harriet Wilson. She attended the Presentation of Mary Academy in Hudson, N.H., class of 1968. She subsequently graduated with a BA in chemistry at Rivier College, class of 1972, and a MS in analytical chemistry from Wright State University, class of 1978.
Lorelei began her career as an officer in the U.S. Air Force in December of 1972, and retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in August 1992. Lorelei’s tour of service had her stationed at Edward Air Force Base from 1972 to 1975, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base from 1975 to 1978, Bolling Air Force Base from 1978 to 1983, and Andrews Air Force Base in 1983.
In 1984, Lorelei survived a battle against a brain tumor and continued her service by receiving training at the Air Command & Staff College, Air War College, and Defense Systems Management College, and also served at Hanscom Air Force Base from 1985 to 1987 and at the Pentagon from 1990 to 1992.
While Lorelei joined the Air Force as a chemist, she quickly rose through the ranks as a forthright and commanding officer who was respected for speaking her mind. She received numerous awards, and acted as the Chief Officer in a variety of technology and policy based branches.
Upon retiring, Lorelei moved to Bremen in 1992 and ran the Roaring Brook Bed & Breakfast, which hosted tourists from across the world who always commented on her excellent cooking and hospitality. She later became a self-employed website designer.
While living in Bremen, Lorelei was a member of the Bremen Patriotic Club, and served on the local school board. She was a staunch environmentalist, and was always reluctant to ask for help, preferring to fix things herself. Her activities and hobbies throughout her life ranged from hiking the Appalachian trail to acquiring her pilot’s license.
Lorelei is survived by her son, Michael Dean Krebs of Philadelphia, Penn.; daughter, Teri Suzanne Krebs of Oslo, Norway; brothers, Arthur Krohnert of Philadelphia, Penn., Robert Krohnert of Glenwood, N.J., and John Wilson of Hamlin, Penn.; sisters, Harriet Bingel of Manchester, N.H., and Mary Lee Lee of Scotsdale, Ariz.; and granddaughters, Katla and Nuna Johansen; all of whom will miss her dearly.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., Fri., July 22 at the Comfort Inn, 298 Queen City Ave., Manchester, N.H.
