Louis L. Goodman, 88, of Wiscasset, died March 22 at Hillhouse Assisted Living in Bath.
He was born in Boston on Aug. 26, 1922, a son of Max and Rose Gerfield Goodman and was educated in the local schools, graduating from Chelsea High School in 1939.
Mr. Goodman served in the Army Air Corp during WWII, as a Staff Sergeant, Engineer/Gunner, on a B24 Bomber in the Pacific Theater.
On Dec. 3, 1954 he married Jacqueline R. Brown and they made their home in Marblehead, Mass. prior to moving here in 1978.
Mr. Goodman worked as a teamster for Local 25 in Boston as a truck driver.
He was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars in Saugus, Mass. and American Legion in South Boston.
Mr. Goodman built his first house and fondly remembers the family gathering around the harvest table he made for the holidays. He also enjoyed fishing, especially with Hank, traveling to Europe with his wife and friends, flea marketing, playing cards, and carpentry. It is said he was a major Red Sox fan, but only when they were winning.
He is predeceased by Jacqueline, his beloved wife of 33 years, who died Sept. 6, 1988; sisters, Martha Glinner and Selma Kane; and brother, Sumner Goodman.
Surviving are a sister, Toni Steinberg; and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours March 25 at David E. Desmond & Son Funeral Home, 638 High St., Bath where funeral services were held. Burial will be in Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Augusta.
