Madolyn M. Elliott, 87, of Portland, passed away Feb. 26 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. She was born May 30, 1924 in Bristol, a daughter of the late Ralph and Mildred (Ward) Bryant.
Madolyn graduated from Bristol High School. She married Charles C. Elliott and together with their three children moved to Portland in 1951. As a family they spent summers at their cottage in Bremen, many memories were made there. Madolyn was a lifetime member of The Rebekahs Lodge. She worked during the war at Bath Iron Works and as a nurse’s aid with the Osteopathic Hospital back in the late 50s. Known as “Tugboat Annie” she enjoyed the CB and ham radio. Madolyn loved to dance and enjoyed music. She will be remembered for her cooking and her love for baking. Madolyn and Charles wintered in Ocala, Fla. until his passing and then she continued with the tradition.
Madolyn is survived by her children, Diane Hiscock and husband Arthur, Jeannine Bruns, and Stanton Elliott and wife Donna; aunt, “The General” Ann Ward; grandchildren, Lee Thurlow, Alisa Gibbs and husband Stanley, Charlyn Foster and husband DJ, Shawn Carter and wife Jessica, Scott LeBourdais and fiancée Nancy Grady, and Troy LeBourdais and wife Karen; and many loving great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited for a time of visitation 6-7 p.m., Wed., Feb. 29 at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland, where a funeral service will be held at 7 p.m.
