Malcolm L. Norcross, 79, of Wiscasset, died July 27 at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta.
He was born in Derry, N.H., on Dec. 8, 1926, a son of Malcolm L. and Elizabeth Macmaster Norcross.
He graduated from high school in Orange, Mass., in 1943 and enlisted in the Army. He served during WWII as an Infantry 1st Sgt. in the Pacific Theater. Following his military service he attended and graduated from Tufts College as a geologist.
On June 8, 1950, he married Marilyn B. Burrill.
He worked as a geologist for Gulf Oil for 18 years and for Seismic Exploration in Texas for three years. He then worked in the lumber industry for Mariner Lumber and Diamond Lumber, retiring in 1991,
He and his wife made their home in South Portland, moving to Troy following retirement. In November of last year they moved to Wiscasset.
He was a member of Mid Coast Country Chapel, the Wiscasset Rod and Gun Club, and the American Legion Post 50 in Unity.
He was a family man who enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, exploring, mountain climbing and travel with his family.
He was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth R. Peterson.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years; son, Angus Norcross and wife Marilyn B. of Wiscasset; daughter, Elizabeth Miller and husband John of Newburg; brother, Neil L. Norcross and wife Sally of Ithaca, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews.
At his request there will be no services.
