Marguerite “Maggie” Lombardi, 88, of Edgecomb, died quite peacefully on Aug. 12 in her own bed and in the company of her three sons.
Maggie was a generous light in the lives of all who knew her, especially her family, and most of all her partner, best friend, helpmate, and husband Ralph. They shared the rare gift of 64 years of love and marriage.
She was a smart, funny, kind, wise, highly principled, often irreverent, and always compassionate force in the world. Her generosity and commitment to service to others showed in countless ways over the course of her life. She embraced life, its pain and anguish, its joys and miracles, and fostered more than a few troubled souls through their journeys.
Always a contemplative at heart, towards the end of her life she often commented on the nature of time, and the ways in which we inhabit and experience it.
Survivors include her loving husband of 64 years Ralph Lombardi; sons, Peter Lombardi and partner John Dimestico of Parsonsfield, Mark Lombardi and wife Deborah of Arden, N.C. and David Lombardi and wife Linda Young of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia; sister, Barbara Underwood of Arnolds Mills, R.I.; granddaughters, Beth Lombardi of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Anne Lombardi of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia; grandsons, Travis Lombardi and wife Adriene of Nantucket, Mass. and Peter Lombardi of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia; and great-granddaughter, Madelyne Lombardi of Nantucket, Mass.
Private service will be held at a later date.
Condolences to the family may be through the Book of Memories at www.hallfuneralhomes.com.
Arrangements are entrusted to Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro.
