Maurice A. “Mossy” Foye, 83, and Audrey L. Foye, 78, of Wiscasset, passed away on April 18. Audrey passed away earlier in the day and the family likes to think that she came knocking on Mossy’s door and told him to hurry up. A few hours later he did just that.
Mossy lived life to the fullest. The family has many memories of him telling jokes around the campfire and his laugh could be heard for miles. He loved to go hunting and fishing with his sons and friends. Many stories have been told of those escapades, some legal and some not so legal, much to Audrey’s chagrin over the years.
Audrey was always more serious and she didn’t always understand his passion for hunting and fishing. Many “discussions” would pursue when Mossy would arrive home later than expected with him walking away with the famous words being spoken “For God’s sake Audrey!” He wasn’t much for confrontations.
They both enjoyed many years of camping together with their family and friends. Mossy was an Army Korean War Veteran. He retired from Bath Iron Works in 1995 after 37 years. Audrey enjoyed reading and crafting as well as her time spent as a child care provider and as a lunch lady at the Wiscasset schools. They both loved spending time with their grandchildren. They almost made it to their 60th wedding anniversary which would have been in June.
Mossy was predeceased by his brother, Parker Foye; and half-sister, Barbara Rice.
Audrey was predeceased by her brother, Arthur McGee; and sister, Sandra Tenney.
Mossy is survived by siblings, Lois Foye and Clayton Foye of Wiscasset, and Stanley Foye of Pittston.
They both are survived by their children, Mark Foye and wife Paula and their children, Graydon, Justin and Adam; Trevor Foye and wife Lisa and their children Hanna and Brian; Melissa Bailey and husband John and their children, Haley, Ashley and Krista; and Bonnie McKay and husband Steve and their daughter Edie; as well as three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A family graveside service will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery in Wiscasset. A gathering to celebrate Mossy and Audrey will be held at 1 p.m., Sat., June 25 at Trevor’s residence, 441 Willow Lane, Wiscasset.
