Maxine Sylvia Heath, 80, of Pittston, passed away on Aug. 9 in Augusta due to complications following various health issues. Maxine left this world with her family by her side to wish her peace.
Maxine was born on April 6, 1935 in Pittston to Maxwell Winter and Sylvia Arvilla Moulton. She married Joseph R. Heath Sr. on July 3, 1957 in a simple ceremony. While raising four children, Maxine worked as a skilled seamstress at Health Tex, later as a talented shoe stitcher for Common Wealth Shoe, and then she completed her Associates degree to become an EMT and a CNA. She retired from Togus Veterans Hospital in 1998. It was a job she enjoyed, and she was appreciated for her care for others. In her free time, she enjoyed playing Yahtzee, singing, shopping, and spending time with her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. Maxine was known for her perseverance, her biting wit, and her generosity.
Maxine is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Samuel; daughter, Sylvia; and twin sons, Timothy Joseph and Terry John.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Merle Cray; son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Cheryl Heath; daughter, Heather C. Heath; brother and sister-in-law, Andy and Dot Moulton; sister and brother-in-law, Cindy and Al Wescott; grandchildren, Erica Anderson, Amanda Whittier, and Joe Heath; as well as great-grandchildren, Mayeha, Hannah, Tavia, Reanna, and Blake.
Maxine will be buried in a ceremony at 2 p.m., Fri., Aug. 14 in the Whitefield Cemetery.
