Maynard R. Tomer, 76, of Waldoboro, died Oct. 18 at his home.
He was born Aug. 6, 1941 in Boothbay Harbor to Levi and Doris Robinson Tomer. Maynard grew up in Boothbay Harbor and graduated from Boothbay Harbor High School. He attended Brown University and graduated from University of Maine at Orono with a B.S. in Mathematics. He earned his masters degree in physics from the University of Arizona.
He was a published author of several mathematics books. He later worked as a general laborer. He built his own garage and several other buildings over the years. He was an avid reader, and enjoyed visiting friends and family.
He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Lee Tomer; and sister, Florence.
He is survived by sisters, Nora Brewer of Southport, Carla Perry of Pennsylvania, and Jean Wickham of Oregon; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate Maynard’s life will be held at a later date.
