Merna Whittier Boynton, 86, of Washington, died Sept. 4 at the Knox Center for Long Term Care in Rockland.
She was born July 25, 1924 in Whitefield, a daughter of the late Cleo and Grace (Corson) Bartlett.
Mrs. Boynton attended school in Washington and graduated high school in 1942 and married Rodney Boynton Sr. in Washington. She was a member of the Grange, Eastern Star and the VFW. She loved music and dancing.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Boynton is preceded in death by a son, Randy Boynton.
Mrs. Boynton is survived by her daughter, Darlene Saunders and husband Lee of Waldoboro; son, Rodney Boynton Jr. and wife Sue of Camden; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two half-brothers, Gerald Bartlett and wife Marlene of Washington and Gary Bartlett of Virginia.
A private service will be held at the convenience of her family.
Interment will be in the family lot in the Levesaler Cemetery in Washington.
Arrangements are under the direction of Smeltzer Family Cremation and Funeral Service, Waldoboro.
