Mona D. Lapane, who was born Feb. 11, 1940, died late June 28 at Cove’s Edge, four and a half months after being diagnosed with cancer. She was courageous and unafraid throughout the ordeal.
Daughter of the late Ara and Velma (Seamans) Black, she was a graduate of Brewer High School.
Mona was a longtime resident of Bristol, Conn. and had also lived in Newport R.I., and in Bristol at the end of her life. She had worked for the Bristol Board of Education, Raphael’s Department Store, and Bristol Savings Bank.
She leaves behind her daughter and best friend Bethany Ludwick and husband Jonathan of Bristol; sons, Bradford Lapane and wife Marissa of Bristol, Conn., and Matthew Ara Lapane of Plainville, Conn.; and beautiful and much loved grandsons, Bryce and Carson Lapane, sons of Bradford and Marissa.
Known for her love of life and of others, her kindness and compassion, her gentleness and strength, she will be missed so very much by those who loved her and knew her best.
A private service and burial will be held Thurs., July 2 in Newport, R.I. A public celebration Mass of Mona’s life will be held at 10 a.m., Tues., Aug. 4 at Our Lady of Mercy Church located on Broad St. in Plainville, Conn.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mona’s name to the Lincoln County Animal Shelter, PO Box 7, Edgecomb, ME 04556.
