Myron F. Skillin, 83, of Dresden died on July 4 at Winship Green Nursing Home in Bath.
He was born in Woolwich on July 6, 1931, a son of Maurice and Vera (Bearce) Skillin. He attended Woolwich schools and Morse High School. He entered the U.S. Army, and on Dec.14, 1957, he married Alma J. Harper. In 1960 he was employed at Hyde Windless in Bath. He commuted to New Jersey, and he was employed for Demoin Steel. Later moving to Dresden, he was a pipe fitter at Bath Iron Works for many years. In 1979 he opened and operated Ruffit Campground in Dresden until 1992.
He was a member of the Odd Fellows in Bath, was a Master Mason of the Masonic Lodge in Bath and a member of Bath Lodge of Elks.
Myron enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and especially spending time with his family.
He is predeceased by brothers, Elwin Skillin, Erwin Skillin and Orman Skillin; sisters, Dorothea Rice, Grace Smith, and Gertrude Brawn; and half brother, Brease Skillin.
He is survived by his wife, Alma J. Skillin of Dresden; sons, Darrell Skillin and fiancée Merilee Waters of Dresden, and Phillip Skillin and wife Patty of Woolwich; granddaughter, Stacy Brown and husband Shawn of Bath; great-grandson, Eric Brown; half brother, Edward Skillin and wife Patricia; half sister, Gail Read and husband Reggie of Phippsburg; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Wed., July 8 at Forest Hill Cemetery in Dresden. Arrangements are by Daigle Funeral home, 819 High St., Bath. Condolences may be made online at www.DaigleFuneralHome.com.
