Nancy B. Johansson, 79, passed away on June 16 after a strong battle against Parkinson’s Disease. Nancy was born on March 23, 1936 in Mineola, N.Y. She graduated from high school in Madison, N.J. and from Berkley Secretarial School in Orange, N.J. She was one of three children born to the late Eliot and Dorothy Brown and was the wife of Walter N. Johansson for 55 years.
Nancy worked for her husband’s company, Brosites Industries, Serendipity Gift Shop, Gimbel Gardens Nursery, and Miles Hospital. She also volunteered at Cove’s Edge Nursing Home.
Nancy belonged to the New Harbor and Round Pond United Methodist Churches, Pemaquid Watershed Association, Damariscotta River Association, Friends of Colonial Pemaquid and Riverside Park. Her leisure activities included fishing, skiing, camping and rowing.
Nancy’s smile and generosity touched all who knew her.
She leaves her husband, Walter of Pemaquid; sons, Peter of Cape Elizabeth, and Eric; daughter-in-law, Suzanne; grandson, Ian; step-granddaughters, Allie and Annie Licata; step-great-grandson, Jaxson Licata of Holmdel, N.J.; brother, Richard Brown and wife Barbara; and nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to your choice. A service will be held in the future at Round Pond United Methodist Church.
