Nancy Lee Paine, 79, a resident of Waldoboro for 23 years, died July 20 at her home with her family by her side after a long period of failing health.
She was born in Boothbay Harbor Sept. 4, 1930, the daughter of Gerald Ernest and Evelyn Josephine Watts Wheeler, and was a graduate of Boothbay High School.
In her younger years, she was a member of the Eastern Star in Boothbay and played piano for minstrel shows throughout the mid-coast.
Nancy loved knitting, baking, and collections varying from vintage dolls to football cards.
She is predeceased by her daughter, Katherine L. Paine, in 2001.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Dwight E. Paine, and for 27 years they resided in Sunrise, Fla.; son, Gerald E. Paine and wife Carolyn of Palm City, Fla.; daughter, Doreen P. Weiss of Waldoboro; granddaughters, Heidi Kambour and Holli Paine, both of Palm City, Fla., and Tammy Witham of Waldoboro; great-grandchildren, Kaleigh and Tanner Kambour of Palm City, Fla.; sister, Rachel Van Lehn of Weston, Fla., and her family Tommi, Jerri, Tori and Brandon; and a wide circle of extended family.
Services will be private.
