Patricia A. Christopher, 73, of Hallowell, died unexpectedly Aug. 5 at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta.
She was born in Augusta on Jan. 6, 1935, the daughter of Gilbert W. and Grace (Blake) Maxwell.
Pat graduated from Kents Hill High School. She had worked as a social worker for the State of Maine. She was a member of St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Hallowell, where she was active in the Social Justice Ministry and a member of the Altar Guild. Pat was a longtime member of the Hallowell food bank. She was an excellent cook and seamstress, who also enjoyed knitting, quilting and gardening. She was also involved with TrialandError.org. She also did volunteer work for the Maine State Museum.
Mimi is survived by three sons, Michael H. Christopher, Jr. of Alna, George W. Christopher of Charleston, S.C. and Gilbert M. Christopher of Greenwood; two daughters, Ellen Hinds of Randolph and Kathleen Dunican of Castleton, Vt.; 11 grandchildren, Bradford, Todd, Adam, Nicholas, Rebecca, Kristen, Cynthia, Kelly, Jessica, Ethan and Kalie; three great grandchildren; several cousins; seven cats and her beloved dog Gretchen.
There will be no visiting hours. Celebration of Pat s life 10 a.m., Wed., Aug. 20, at St. Matthews Episcopal Church, Hallowell, with Rev. Calvin Sanborn officiating. Burial will be in the Hallowell Cemetery, immediately followed by a reception in the church hall.
