Patrick L. Hoch, 70, of Waldoboro, died March 18 at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. He was born Sept. 25, 1940 in Damariscotta to Elmer R. Hoch Sr. and Thelma Cuthberthson. He grew up in Waldoboro and attended local schools. He served in the U.S. Army.
He worked as a crane operator for Reed & Reed Construction for many years and later worked at B.I.W. for over 20 years until he retired. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing and working on cars and anything mechanical. In later years he enjoyed keeping his lawn and cars immaculate. He was a people person and he loved spending time with his grandchildren and watching NASCAR. He was a member of the Soule-Shuman American Legion Post in Waldoboro.
He was predeceased by his son, Craig Hoch and sister, Sarah Parker.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Viola Abbott Hoch of Waldoboro; daughter, Patricia K. Hoch and significant other Gilbert Collamore Jr. of Waldoboro; sister, Helen Martin of Florida; brother, Elmer “Bud” Hoch Jr. of Waldoboro; grandchildren, Charity C. Hoch of Friendship and Christian I. Hoch of Friendship; former daughter-in-law, Carol Hoch of Friendship; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours 6-8 p.m., Tues., March 22 at the Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro. Funeral 11 a.m., Wed., March 23 at the Hall Funeral Home. Rev. Robert Bellows will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow at the Orff’s Corner Cemetery, Rt. 32, Waldoboro.
