Payten Grace Skidgel, born on Jan. 21 at Maine Medical Center in Portland, passed away in the arms of her loving parents on the morning of Jan. 22. In the short time that she was with us, she changed so many lives and touched so many hearts. She meant the world to her whole family.
Payten was a beautiful soul that we will never forget. Though she was with us for such a short time, she couldn’t be loved anymore by her whole family. She fought so hard to get here, and did an amazing job at it. She was the best gift that her parents could have gotten, and knowing she is safe and happy in the arms of her grandfathers is something that will give her parents some comfort. This angel baby was a blessing and is loved very much.
Payten was predeceased by her great-grandfathers, Eddie Hoague and Bill Skidgel; and her Papa, James B. Riley.
She is survived by her parents, Cody Skidgel and Taylor Riley; paternal grandparents, Deidra Hoague, Will Skidgel, and Jim Mason; maternal grandparent, Nancy Riley; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and great-grandparents.
A memorial service for Payten will be held at 4 p.m., Thurs., Feb. 13 at the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main St., Damariscotta.
