Pearl Irene Farrin, 79, passed away Dec. 14 at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in New Harbor on May 3, 1927, a daughter of Willis and Carrie Blaisdell Gilbert. She grew up in New Harbor where she also attended grammar school and high school.
Pearl married Corliss Farrin, and together with their children, made their home in South Bristol.
In the early years, Pearl was a member of the Pocahontas Chapter at Redman’s Hall in Bristol. She was also active in the community in South Bristol, where until recently, she volunteered at the thrift shop.
Pearl took great pride in her yard and spent many hours maintaining it by mowing, raking and shoveling the snow.
She was a wonderful mother who enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be remembered for carrying a red and white cooler filled with food with her pocketbook over her arm, going somewhere to help someone in need.
She was predeceased by her husband, R. Corliss Farrin; brothers, Arthur, Buddy and Clinton Gilbert; and sisters, Doris Wotton, Helen Kelsey and Marie Crook.
Survivors include her daughters, Janice Seiders of South Bristol, and Karen Doughty of Bristol; brother, Chester Gilbert of New Harbor; sisters, Gloria Westhaver of Damariscotta, and Jean Alley of South Bristol; grandchildren, Jessica Leeman of Round Pond, Jenny Pendleton of New Harbor, Jason Seiders of Belgrade, Kristina Blanc of Walpole, Samantha Kelley of Bremen, and Brandon Chickering of Bremen; great-grandchildren, Kylie, Kaden and Kaleb Pendleton of New Harbor, Corey Blanc of Walpole, and Everett Seiders of Belgrade; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial service 11 a.m., Thurs., Dec. 21 at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro; burial will follow in the Walpole Cemetery.
There will be a reception at the conclusion of the services at the South Bristol Fire Department.
