Peter Scott Monti, 44, passed away on June 7 at Enloe Medical Center in Chico, Cal. as the result of a work accident that occurred on June 5. Peter was working as a logging mechanic, doing what he loved, at the time of this tragic accident. He was surrounded by his loving family when he died.
Peter was born at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta on July 26, 1967. He graduated from Lincoln Academy in 1985 and served in the U.S. Marine Corps, training at Parris Island, S.C., where his mother and father, who both served as Marines, were married.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Flora May (Sally) Erskine Monti; father, William Monti Sr.; and stepson, Andrew Wilson.
He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Monti of Loma Rica, Cal.; mother of his children, Christina Monti, and two daughters, Devon Jones and Austin Monti, all of Newcastle; son, Mason Monti, currently stationed at the Marine Corps Base in Camp Pendleton, Cal.; stepson, Colin Wilson, currently serving aboard the U.S.S. West Virginia; stepdaughter, Anastacia Makris of Irvine, Cal.; sister and brother-in-law, Marian and Jamie Schlosser of Spring Valley, Cal.; sisters, Barbara and Virginia Monti; and, William “Bill” Monti; as well as many other relatives and friends.
It was Peter’s wish to be buried by his mother. Graveside service 11 a.m., Sat., July 7 at Hopkins Cemetery, South Jefferson.
