Phyllis K. Dow passed away Jan. 7 at Cove’s Edge in Damariscotta. She was born Nov. 6, 1924 in South Bristol, the daughter of Albert Goudy Kelsey and Beatrice Fitch Kelsey.
Her childhood was spent in Walpole and she attended local schools. She worked at BIW in the 1940s to help in the war effort while her husband served overseas.
She married Theodore B. Dow in 1965. In the 1970s they moved to Pemaquid Lake, Damariscotta.
She was a big fan of snowmobiling with a group of her special friends. She also enjoyed boating and fishing. She enjoyed the early mornings with a good cup of coffee and her dog by her side overlooking the lake.
Phyllis spent many hours as a volunteer member of the Patriotic Club, Lincoln Home Thrift Shop, Miles Memorial Hospital League, the Twin Cove Association and Pemaquid Watershed Association.
She was predeceased by her husband, Theodore; brother, Harvey Thomas Kelsey; sister, Barbara Ann Kelsey; daughter, Karen Deleon; grandson, Frank Panek; and son-in-law, Quenten L. Smith.
Survivors are daughters, Deborah L. Smith and Margaret W. Lewis and husband Richard; grandsons, Stephen William Lewis and wife Cynthia, and Christopher Patrick Lewis; granddaughter, Kristina Panek; great-grandchildren, Alton Fitch Lewis, Dillion Drugg, Taylor Panek, Sophia and Christopher Turman; sister, Sandra Bourgoin and husband Alfred; and brother, Paul Kelsey and wife Rosemary.
Her wishes were to have a graveside service in the spring, to be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, she wished for donations to local animal shelters.
