A memorial service for Private Jordan Chase who died at Palmetto Health Richland, S.C. hospital is planned for 9:30 a.m., Fri., Feb. 25 at Fort Jackson’s Bayonet Chapel.
Private Chase, 19, of Lewiston and who has family in Lincoln County, died Feb. 20 from complications brought on by pneumonia. He had been transferred to Palmetto Health Richland from Providence Main Hospital after being admitted Feb. 12 to Fort Jackson’s Moncrief Army Community Hospital.
Chase was a recent graduate of Gray-New Gloucester High School. He was in his fifth week of basic combat training at Fort Jackson after joining the Maine Army National Guard. He was in A Co., 3rd Battalion, 34th Infantry Regiment, which began the 10-week training cycle Jan. 10.
