Rendall Elton Hyson, 82, of Boothbay Harbor, died peacefully in Damariscotta on April 25 with his loving family by his side. Rendall was born July 22, 1933 to Charles and Cycely (Kirkpatrick) Hyson in Boothbay Harbor, where he graduated from Boothbay High School, Class of 1951.
Rendall worked at area shipyards and for Paul Abbott as a carpenter. He started his own carpentry business in the mid-1960s and was well-known for high quality craftsmanship.
Rendall was a member of the Lions Club, loved to go camping with his family and watching basketball. He was also the crew chief of his son, Glenn’s race team at Wiscasset Raceway, and loved going to the races at Louden since 1990. He was also an avid bird watcher.
Rendall is predeceased by his loving wife of 64 years, Margaret Emma Hyson; sister, Carlene Hyson Neuman; brothers, Merle Hyson, Robert Hyson, and Gerald Hyson; and parents, Charles and Cycely Hyson.
He is survived by sons, Ronald Hyson and wife Brenda of Boothbay Harbor, Richard Hyson and wife Tracey of Boothbay, Steven Hyson of Boothbay, and Glenn Hyson and wife Sarah of Boothbay; daughter, Kathy Tibbetts and husband Edward of Boothbay Harbor; grandchildren, Tony Hyson and wife Jennifer, Eric Hyson, Todd Hyson, Ethan Hyson, Evan Hyson, Hillary Hyson, Cory Hyson, Kristy Hyson, Benjamin Tibbetts, Rendall “Randy” Tibbetts, and Christopher Hyson; as well as seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Rendall is also survived by his sister-in-law, Mary Day Hull.
A celebration of Rendall’s life will be held 2 p.m., Fri., April 29 at Hall’s of Boothbay, 975 Wiscasset Rd., Boothbay. A reception will immediately follow the service at the Boothbay Fire Station. All are welcome.
