Mr. Richard C. Smith Sr., 79, of Boothbay, formerly of Lynn, Mass., died July 7 at Sedgewood Commons in Falmouth after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of the late Ethel M. (White) Smith, and companion of Jacquelyn Perrin of Union.
Born in Salem, Mass. he was the son of the late Earle H. and Edna B. (Little) Smith Sr. He attended Marblehead High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree from Northeastern University, Class of 1954. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Smith was employed as a Data Processing Supervisor at Sylvania in Salem and Danvers, Mass. until he retired in 1987.
He was a member of the Past Master of Starr King Lodge A.F. & A.F. in Salem, a member of Bay View Lodge #196 A.F. & A.M. in East Boothbay, Scottish Rite Valley of Salem, the Aleppo Shriners of Massachusetts, the Antique Car Club at Aleppo, and the Kora Shriners of Maine. He was a past member of the Essex County Beekeepers’ Association and the Maine State Beekeepers Association. He was an avid outdoorsman, frequently enjoying camping and canoeing. He was also a frequent square dancer with the SAGE Swingers of Brunswick.
He is survived by his son, Richard C. Smith Jr. and wife Susan O. of Merrimack, N.H.; brother, Earle H. Smith Jr. and wife Arlene of Trevett; sister, Virginia Maunder of Leominster, Mass.; granddaughters, Kate and Heather Smith, both of Merrimack, N.H.; great-grandson, Tyler Elkind of Merrimack, N.H.; and several nieces and nephews.

Services in Massachusetts 6-8 p.m., Wed., July 13 at Parker Funeral Home, 35 Franklin St., Lynn, Mass. and Starr King Lodge will hold Masonic Services 7:30 p.m., Wed., July 13.
