Richard L. Bredeau, 66, of Boothbay Harbor, passed away April 26 at the MaineGeneral Hospital in Augusta, following a long period of failing health.
Mr. Bredeau was born Dec. 26, 1940 in Damariscotta, the son of Joseph Austin and Idella M. Bredeau. He was a graduate of Waldoboro High School.
A man of many jobs, master of none, he was employed as a carpenter, truck driver, and security guard and was a maintenance man for many years at the Linekin Bay Resort in Boothbay Harbor.
Mr. Bredeau was often referred to as the poor man’s Johnny Cash. He had a love for music, playing the guitar with the groups, Southport Ramblers and The Relatives, at local venues, mostly playing covers of Johnny Cash songs. He also loved humor, especially watching the Red Green Show, painting, and listening to music. In the end, music was a source of great comfort to him.
He is predeceased by his son, Sereno Joseph Bredeau; brothers, Louis and Joseph Bredeau; and sister, Mary Bredeau.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Bredeau of Boothbay Harbor; son, Richard A. Bredeau of Boothbay; daughters, Frances “Micki” Warner of Denmark, and Selina Shields of Farmington; brother, George F. Bredeau of Waldoboro; sisters, Shirley Stone of Chelsea Mass., Jeanette Wells of Melrose, Mass., and Joan Westman of Fairfield, Mass.; grandchildren, Amanda Bussiere of Buffalo, N.Y., Nathan Warner of Denmark, and Dylan and Morgan Bredeau of Boothbay; sister-in-law, Doris Bredeau of Waldoboro; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours 6-8 p.m., Mon., April 30 at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro.
Funeral service 11 a.m., Tues., May 1 at the funeral home, with Rev. Tom Rawley officiating.
