Robert A. Hutt, 87, of Southborough, Mass., died at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston surrounded by his loving family on Sept. 22. He was born in Newton, Mass. to the late James A. and Mary (Kilmain) Hutt.
Robert grew up in Wellesley, Mass., and was a resident of Southborough for the last 40 years. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the end of WWII. He was a Seaman, First Class and stationed in Hawaii where he was attached to the 116th Naval Construction Battalion which was sent to Japan. Robert was awarded WWII Victory and Asiatic Pacific Theatre Medals. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 25 and worked at P.I.E. and Pilot Freight Carriers for 25 years. After retirement from the Teamsters he was a courtesy driver for Foreign Motors West until the age of 80.
Robert was a 17-year lung cancer survivor. He enjoyed traveling, U.S. history, and following the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox.
He was predeceased by his sister, Joan Beranek.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Nancy (Brown) Hutt; daughter, Cheryl Hutt and husband John Monterisi of Damariscotta Mills and Brookline, Mass.; son, Matthew Hutt of Southborough; sister, Mary Briggs of Kennebunk; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are welcome to visit with the Hutt family from 5-8 p.m., Sun., Sept. 27 in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St. at Natick Common, Natick, Mass.
His funeral mass and burial will be private.
