Robert Earl Buck, 93, of Skippack, Penn and Jefferson, died Aug. 25 at Cove’s Edge, Damariscotta.
He was born on May 22, 1916 to J. Howard and Mary Ambra (Beck) Buck in Womelsdorf, Penn. He was a graduate of the School of Civil Engineering at Duke University, class of 1937.
A veteran of WWII, he served as Captain in the Army Field Artillery in France, 1942-45. He was employed by the Budd Co., Philadelphia, Penn., and upon retirement became Health Officer for Upper Dublin Township, Ft. Washington, Penn.
He was a life member of the Jefferson Historical Society and served on the Veterans Memorial Committee in Jefferson, 2007. He was treasurer of Ft. Washington Fire Co. #1 for 25 years and long-time treasurer of Rushlight Club, and Deed under Trust of Joshua Morris. He was a member of the American Legion, S.A.R., Edw. Doty Society, and an honorary member of Ft. Washington Historical Society.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Clarke Buck; son, Robert Eric Buck and wife Jan; daughter, Mary Elizabeth Buck; stepson, W. Barrett Geiger and wife Elizabeth; stepson, W. Clarke Geiger and wife Kathleen; grandchildren, Jennifer S. Buck, Barbara B. Phillips, John P. Giovinazzo, and Judith L. Giovinazzo; and step-grandchildren, Daniel C., Rebecca M., and James F. Geiger.
Memorial service 11 a.m., Sat., Sept. 5 at St. Giles Episcopal Church, Jefferson.
