Robert H. Martin, 89, a lifelong resident of Warren, died July 7. He was born Aug. 6, 1925 at home on Cedar Valley Farm in Warren, a son of the late George A. and Leda A. (Waltz) Martin.
Robert was a graduate of Warren High School and enjoyed attending fairs, especially the horse pulls. He was an active resident in the Town of Warren, serving as the fish agent overseeing the town’s alewife program, a town constable, a member of the budget committee, and many other town functions. He was self-employed most of his life. First and foremost, he was a farmer and a logger, and he also planted trees for the State and drove his truck throughout the East Coast delivering Christmas trees. He will be most remembered for being honest, hardworking, quick-witted, always ready to help others, and the strongest man his family will ever know.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by son, Andrew Martin; brothers, Howard and Gilbert Martin; and sisters, Faye Dorgan and Patrice Worcester.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of more than 63 years, Marjorie (Penney) Martin of Warren; children, Amanda Martin of Saco, Alan Martin and wife Laurie of Warren, Allison Martin and husband Fred Fasulo of Scarborough, and Anissa Chase of Whitefield; daughter-in-law, Su Martin of Rockland; brothers, Carroll Martin and wife Eleanor of Searsport, and Herbert Martin and wife Elsie of Cushing; sisters-in-law, Helen Martin of Waldoboro, and Marian Martin of Cushing; special cousin, Francis Brown of Portland; grandchildren, Christina, Jesse, Charlotte, Jared, Cody, Nicole, Emma, and Gage; great-grandchildren, Kaylynn, Jaden and Zachary; and many nieces and nephews.
