Robert “Buddy Bob” Leslie Hannan, Sr., 69, of Waldoboro, passed away on Aug. 4 at his home.
Robert was born on Jan. 19, 1939 in Danvers, Mass., a son of the late Ivory and Marie Philbrook Hannan. He grew up in Thomaston and attended local schools there.
For many years he was employed at National Sea Products in the Shipyard Division as a spray painter, retiring in 1991.
He was a huge Dale Earnhardt fan who never missed a race.
He belonged to a bowling league in Rockland where he bowled at the Oakland Lanes. He enjoyed constructing models and watching and feeding birds; especially humming birds. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, dancing and playing his tambourine. He could be found going on stage, with a band he may or may not have known, and playing with them.
He was very proud of his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He adored his cat, “Spooky”, a.k.a. “Itty Buddy”.
He was a man with great faith who attended the Word of Life Church when his health allowed him to attend. He loved to listen to gospel music.
He will be remembered for his great sense of humor. He enjoyed sharing his jokes and could always keep you laughing.
He was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Norman and Bernard Hannan.
Survivors include his loving wife of 33 years, Gloria Keizer Hannan; daughters, Sheila Whittier of Warren, and Billie-Jo Leo of Warren; sons, Robert Hannan, Jr., and wife Michelle of Rockport, Tim Robinson and wife Angela of Friendship, and Kevin Pratt and wife Janelle of Warren; brother, Roger Hannan and wife Janie of Rockland; sister, Blanche Bunnel of Augusta; grandchildren, Chris McKellar and wife Rachel of Appleton, Misti Turner of Belfast, Tasia Whittier of Warren, Kelsey Whittier of Waldoboro, Katlyn Whittier of Brunswick, Savannah and Scotty Robinson of Friendship, Nicole and Mickayla Pratt of Warren, and Sean and Cassandra Goodine of Warren; great grandchildren, Jae-Lynn, J Lissa, Isaiah and Audrey Dodge of Belfast; and special friends, Sharon Wright, Stephen McKellar, Laura and Roy Hatch and their sons, Steven and Nick Hatch, who always called Robert, “Buddy Bob”.
Celebration of Robert’s life 2 p.m., Fri., Aug. 8 at the Word of Life Church, Waldoboro with Pastor Tom Rawley officiating. A reception will follow at the church.
