Robert M. Osyer, 85, of Newcastle, passed away on the morning of Jan. 5 at Coves Edge Nursing Home in Damariscotta.
Born May 3, 1921, in Washington D.C., he was the son of Martin and Emilie (Schmidt) Osyer.
Robert worked for the U.S. Government as part of the Interstate Commerce Commission for many years.
He enjoyed firearms, and was a longtime member of the Lincoln County Rifle Club in Damariscotta.
Robert was a caring man who loved reading, movies and spending time with his friends.
With a passion for science, he left a grant to Lincoln Academy to support its program of science instruction and to fund a scholarship for students of Lincoln Academy who would be furthering their education in this field at the University of Maine.
He was predeceased by his wife, Jessie (Shearer) Osyer, in 1978.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Sybil Jacobsen of Canada, as well as several close friends.
A graveside service was held on Jan. 18 at the Dunbar Cemetery in Nobleboro.
