Rosemary M. (Pinkham) Thompson, 83, of Auburn, formerly of Alna, passed away unexpectedly at St. Mary’s Hospital, Lewiston, on March 28.
She was born on June 21, 1927 in Roxbury, Mass. to Emery and Mabel Pinkham (Webb).
Rosemary married Thurlow “Bud” Thompson on Oct. 7, 1944 in Sheepscot. She worked at several bookkeeping jobs in the Boston area until her retirement in 1977, when she moved back to Maine.
In her retirement years, she devoted herself to refurbishing old dolls and toys for those less fortunate. For this, she received a “Lifetime Achievement Award” from the state of Maine for her tireless efforts.
In 2004, she and Bud both moved into the Odd Fellows and Rebekas’ Nursing Home in Auburn. Here she also worked creating crafts and crocheted items for rummage sales and various fundraisers at the nursing home. She truly enjoyed these tasks and found extreme joy in helping others.
She was predeceased by her husband Bud; daughter, Sharon Nolan; sister, Dorothy Zarych; and stepbrother, Eddie Black.
She is survived by her son, Ed and wife Sandy of Marshfield, Mass.; grandchildren, Chris Thompson and fiancée Angie Stebbins of Worcester, Mass. and Sean Nolan of Florence, S.C.; great-grandchildren, Belle Stebbins and Emma Thompson, both of Worcester, Mass.; sister, Marion Chebba of Hampden; and an extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
Memorial service to celebrate Rosemary’s life and achievements 11 a.m., Sat., May 21 at the Walpole Cemetery, Rt. 129, Walpole.
