Russel W. Curry, 78, of Jefferson and Livingston, N.J., died Aug. 12 at his summer residence on Damariscotta Lake surrounded by his loving family.
He was born July 5, 1937 in Orange, N.J., a son of the late Thomas and Miriam (McCarthy) Curry. On March 22, 1957 he married Virginia Macauley in West Orange, N.J.
For more than 40 years, Mr. Curry worked in plumbing and heating. He was a train enthusiast, a gardener, an avid reader, and a history buff especially on the Civil War. Mr. Curry loved his family’s summer home on the lake where he found great joy in having his family and many friends there and watching his grandchildren having fun. He was a member of the Wiscasset, Waterville & Farmington Railway in Alna, and a former member of The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Lodge 1855 in Livingston, N.J.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Thomas Curry and William “Billy” Curry; sister, Bette Ann Meyer; and son-in-law, Greg Maute.
Along with his loving wife of more than 58 years, “Ginger” Curry of Jefferson and Livingston, N.J., Mr. Curry is survived by their children, Marilyn Maute, Mark Curry, Paul Curry and wife Gina, and JoAnne O’Donnell and husband Ed; and 11 grandchildren.
A celebration of Mr. Curry’s life will be held 6-9 p.m., Thurs., Aug. 20 at the Damariscotta Lake Farm, 15 Bunker Hill Rd., Jefferson.
