Ruth A. (Harmon) Richards, of Boothbay Harbor, formerly of Rockland, Mass., and Livermore Falls, died peacefully on July 23 at St. Andrews Village, Boothbay Harbor. Ruth was born on April 1, 1917, to the late Wallace and Elizabeth (Constantine) Harmon, in Livermore Falls.
Ruth married Robert Rainey of Wilton, and later Louis (Sinom) Richards of Livermore Falls. After the death of Louis, she moved to Rockland, Mass., where she attended classes and became a CNA. She worked for many years at Del Manor Nursing Home, then The Mildred Alfred Nursing Home in Abington, Mass. She did not retire until she was well into her 70s. Upon retiring, she moved back to Livermore Falls to live with her sister.
In 2007, Ruth moved to Boothbay Harbor to live with her daughter, Susan. She worshiped at the Boothbay Baptist Church. Ruth had a wonderful sense of humor and always enjoyed any time she could with her family. She will be remembered as a very special grandmother and aunt.
Ruth is survived by her only child, daughter, Susan Foss of Boothbay Harbor; grandson, Jeffrey Foss and wife Deborah of Westport Island; granddaughters, Dawn Foss and life partner Stephen Foye of North Port, Fla.; Kris Stahle and husband Douglas of Eatonton, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Meghan Hamm and husband Brandon of Hershey, Penn., Shannon Detwiler and husband Ben of Lancaster, Penn., and Taylor, Tucker, and Madison Stahle of Eatonton, Ga.; great-great-grandson, Brody Detwiler; nieces, Margaret Stanley and family of Plymouth, Mass., Elizabeth Torrence and family of Plymouth, Mass., and Linda Canaday and family of Charleston, S.C.; and nephew, Stephen Souther and family of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
A private family burial was held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Livermore Falls.
