Ruth E. Gay, 69, of Bath, died June 10 at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick.
She was born in Bath on July 12, 1944, a daughter of Newman F. and Elinor C. (Brawn) Kennerson.
She graduated from Milford High School in Milford, Mass., and on Oct. 6, 1962 married Daniel L. Gay. She was a manager at Merribee Store in Massachusetts and moved back to Bath in 1979.
She loved all crafts, especially quilting. She also enjoyed scrapbooking, was an avid reader, and had a rapport with all animals, especially skittish strays.
In recent years, she enjoyed taking classes at the Mariner’s Compass Quilt Shop.
Ruth was predeceased by brothers, Donald Kennerson and Ronald Kennerson.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel Gay of Bath; son, Steven D. Gay of Bath; daughters, Roxann E. Gardiner and husband Robert of Damariscotta, Bonnie L. Ricker and husband Darryl of Woolwich, and Julie B. Sager and husband Chris of Raleigh, N.C.; brother, Walter Kennerson and wife Gail of Gainesville, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Sat., June 14 at Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High St., Bath. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Bath.
